Who discovered pre-Hispanic alien figures in Mexico?

Users of some foreign social networks have begun to distribute photos of alleged alien figures that were allegedly found during the laying of a new railway line that will pass through the territory of the ancient disappeared Maya civilization, in the state of Quintana Roo (Yucatan Peninsula), Mexico.

 

The viral information appeared a few days after the Director-General of the National Tourism Development Fund (Fonatur) Rogelio Jimenez Pons announced the opening for inspection of 2,187 historical monuments in the construction zone of the so-called "Maya train" project.

The railway will pass through 50 archaeological zones open to the public, 10 museums, two zones of historical monuments, five monuments included in the World Heritage list...

However, some experts immediately noted that these "finds" have symbols (for example, Mexican, Peruvian, and others) that are not peculiar to the Mayan culture.

In addition, these figures are made of limestone. According to local experts, this stone is quite fragile and overtime is subject to severe erosion. The figures that were allegedly found there have no signs of destruction. Simply put, these finds are not authentic and do not correspond to the historical period.

In my opinion, such "finds" have quite a logical explanation. The massive flow of tourists that is about to go to this region will be ready to sweep any exotic "ancient" and mysterious "alien" artifacts from the shelves of local merchants. Thus, it can be stated that such things are "found" by small businessmen who are trying to rip off any money from hapless tourists for these and other similar fake artifacts.
