UFO sightings in Argentina in the sixties of the twentieth century
The picture presented in the article is not widely known on the Internet, but this does not detract from its importance for us as researchers. Besides, he has a backstory.
On July 3, 1960, Captain Hugo Niotti was traveling from Yacanto to the city of Cordoba. The weather was inclement - drizzling rain and solid clouds hung low over the ground. The road was quite slippery, and Captain Niotti focused all his attention on driving.
At about 16:30, he was in the area of the village of Villa General Belgrano, about 70 km from Cordoba, when he suddenly noticed an unusual object hovering quite close to the ground to the right of the road.
Hugo was pretty impressed by what was happening, and by a lucky coincidence, he had a camera with him. In fact, in the sixties, almost everyone had cameras, just like we have smartphones :) But aside from the lyrics, let's go back to the event itself. The captain got out of the car and photographed an object that was moving slowly. While he was rewinding the film to take another frame, the object began to accelerate and disappeared into the clouds.
The whole incident lasted about 40 seconds in absolute silence. This eerie silence, combined with the bad weather and the suddenness of the incident, made Captain Niotti feel unreal. The puzzled man got into the car and continued on his way to Cordoba, where he processed the film.
The object was conical in shape, 7-8 meters high and 3-4 meters in diameter at the base. He was in a "lying position" when his axis is almost parallel to the ground, and the base is in front of me. The cone was slowly rotating at a distance of 80 -100 meters from me and was also slowly moving parallel to the ground towards the south. Then it accelerated very quickly, gaining speed in 3-4 seconds, possibly up to 200 km/h, and disappeared into low clouds. This sudden acceleration was soundless, which surprised me because I was so close. The color of the object was dark gray and uniform. The surface was completely smooth without seams or rivets and had a metallic sheen.

The PCA analysis, however, shows a discrepancy between the photo and the description of the witness of this incident. We don't see the cone here. Even if we assume that he turned his back to the camera lens, and these are nozzles. Then it will also differ from the description of what happened.
Captain Niotti told about the unusual meeting only to a few officers - his colleagues, who convinced him to send negatives and copies to the Revista Nacional de Aeronautica (RNA). The editorial board of this official magazine sent the photo to the "Servicio de Informaciones de Aeronautica" (SIA) — the organization of maintenance of the air Force.
SIA gave the conclusion of the authenticity of the picture, and the photo was printed in the November 1960 issue of RNA. In the following years, this photo was repeatedly examined, but no traces of falsification were revealed.

When Captain Niotti saw the object, he perceived it in one color. Imagine his surprise when, after processing the film and printing the photograph, it turned out that the base of the cone was black matte color without any shades. The rest of the cone was much lighter.
UFO-AC research group also checked the digital copy of this image, we do not have access to the negative. And we confirm that the objects there are genuine. But we want to warn you that the authenticity of the photo itself does not mean that the objects on it correspond to the description of the witnesses. For example, if you take a picture of a button thrown into the air, the picture will also be authentic, but this will not mean that there is a flying saucer in the photo.
The second detail is that there is a horse in the photo whose head is turned towards the object. Anyone familiar with rural life knows that horses on pastures near roads are indifferent to the movement of cars. However, the horse seems to be looking directly at an object located halfway between it and the road. Interestingly, Captain Niotti was extremely surprised when he saw the horse in the photo, as he did not notice it during the incident — all his attention was focused on the object.
The presence of a horse in the picture allowed us to determine the size of the object and the distance to it. The Argentine researchers determined that the horse was about 80 meters from the road, and the object was 17 meters above the ground, no more than 50 meters from Captain Niotti. No wonder he was surprised by the absolute silence.
As for the horse, it could turn to the photographer. As always, we would like to have a better photo to make more accurate conclusions. But it seems to us that there are a lot of ambiguities in this story.
