A meeting with a UFO in 1972 ended in a shootout with aliens

The UFO incident occurred at the McChord Air Force Base, which is located in Pierce County, Washington. This indescribable case was uncovered by a former agent of the AFOSI (Office of Special Investigations of the US Air Force) By Robert Collins in 2001.

According to Collins, this case is described in the AFOSI files dated October 1972. He said that all the places, actions, and names used in the report were real.

On October 14, 1972, two American military pilots, pilot First Class Steven Briggsand pilot Dennis Hillsgeck, were assigned to check the Tactical Air Navigation Facility (TACAN), which was located just 12 km east of McChord Air Force Base.  The base was under the jurisdiction of the United States Government.

McChord Air Force Base is also known for the crash of an Air Force C-118 airliner in Bonney Lake, a city in Washington State, on April 1, 1959. It is curious that UFOs are blamed for this crash.

Interesting fact:

At about one o'clock in the afternoon, two officers arrived at the facility, opened the fence around the high-security facility, and entered the room. As they entered the interior, the officers began conducting security checks of the TACAN equipment and pre-scheduled system checks.

The officers were carrying out the necessary actions when at approximately 14:00 Briggs was distracted by an unusual sound outside the building. He described the sound as similar to the sound of a motor with the highest speed. It was really strange, because he went outside to see what it was, and found that the sound did not come from an ordinary plane, but from a UFO.

At the moment when Briggs was outside the building, he found a flying saucer hovering over the TACAN complex. He continued to monitor the object, and a moment later it began to descend in a southerly direction from the TACAN complex and landed.

For security reasons, Briggs hurried back to the TACAN building to warn his own colleague Hillsgeck about the intruders. Both men in an anxious state went outside to protect the object but were stunned to see 2 humanoid-like creatures walking towards the fence surrounding the building.

The situation was already beginning to frighten the pilots, and Briggs again went inside the building and reported to the law enforcement agencies of the base security. He asked them to send help to the TACAN building, due to the fact that the violators were going to infiltrate the territory of the facility. David Holmes was the desk sergeant who took his call. He sent Sergeant Dwight Reed and assistant Chief Michael Tash to help Briggs and Hillsgeck.

A security police patrol arrived at the scene 17 minutes later but did not see any aircraft. They found both pilots in disbelief, who were standing near their personal car. They could not speak, and the burn mark on Hillsgeck's face worried Sergeant Reed, who immediately called an Air Force ambulance.

Meanwhile, Tash checked the surroundings of the building and was surprised to find unusual traces on the soil, which seemed soft, perhaps due to the landing of a UFO. Suddenly he heard Reed call to him to look up because there was an object directly above him. They found a saucer-shaped object above the protected object, which was seen by Briggs and Hillsgeck. Sergeant Reid tried unsuccessfully to contact the law enforcement security department on the radio. All attempts were in vain.

Reid and Tash quickly grabbed both surprised pilots and left the scene of the incident. After driving some distance away from the TACAN facility, they managed to contact the security police office and ask them to send help urgently.

4 representatives of security law enforcement agencies arrived at the scene of the incident, as well as Sergeant Darren Alexander, along with his own service dog (Champ). When the search began, Champ barked, due to the fact that he found something suspicious about 400 meters south of the TACAN site.

To his own surprise, Alexander saw 2 humanoid-like creatures near the power plant building remote from the main building. He told them to freeze and put their hands up. Instead, the creatures moved towards Alexander, and he saw that one of them was holding something that looked like a weapon.

Defending himself, Alexander fired 6 shots from his own pistol of the 15th model of the 38-caliber. After that, he returned to his own car, radioed Sergeant Reid, and told him that he had shot at the creatures. He was not completely sure that he had hit the creatures and asked for reinforcements.

Then the reinforcements arrived. They searched the area and found an object in the shape of a saucer, which is standing on the ground. They surrounded the facility and called their own leader, Captain Henry Stone. When Captain Stone arrived, the object rose at one moment, flew away in an easterly direction, and disappeared a few seconds later.

A rapid reaction group (special forces) arrived at the scene. They searched the area and saw a saucer-shaped object that stands on the ground, directly to the east of the power station. They walked around the object in a circle and called the head. The flying saucer rose into the sky and flew away.

According to the Collins report, employees of the Special Investigations Department conducted an investigation on this case. They took eyewitness accounts and collected evidence, including shell casings from cartridges fired by Sergeant Alexander. He said that the incident was classified as top secret and remained in the AFOSI files as unsolved.
